Balls to Cancer – About Us

We are Balls to Cancer- a registered charity, and it is our aim to fight cancer with fun!  We are raising funds for male cancer awareness and education. We occasionally donate a proportion to other associated causes and research.

100% of funds raised or donated goes into this charity for our aims below…..

We are spending time and money on a nationwide (and in some cases worldwide) awareness campaign through the media, social networks, leaflets and posters, to try to make both men and women more aware of the dangers of cancer and to help men help themselves. We believe that prevention is the key to beating cancer.

We want to open a male only contact point for men/boys who have been diagnosed with cancer or are worried about cancer and their families. So if you know anyone who needs our help or if you need our help yourselves, please contact us today. We are here to help you so get in touch.

We are funding an education programme for teenagers to help them understand and take away the taboo of talking about testicular cancer and asking for help. We are currently setting this up with our own local authority with the hope of going nationwide next year.

We are also putting aside a small amount of funds for research projects we feel are making headway in their particular field. This funding will also be there to help individuals who need specialist treatment, or support for families affected financially due to treatment.

We have already given money to many research projects and hospitals such as Birmingham, Wolverhampton & Brunel Universities as well as funding special sensory equipment of  The Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

We are also funding two luxury holiday homes at  Haven, Burnham on Sea holiday park for the use of cancer sufferers* and their families, completely free of charge. The idea behind this is for the charity to provide holidays for people/families at an already difficult time.  We are giving well deserved breaks to those that need it, allowing them to create some happy memories.

We have also launched  the Geoff Bates Fund, the fund has been set up to help the families in the UK who are fighting cancer. We have spoken to hundreds of families across the country and their main worry after cancer has hit them is how to cope financially, often when a member of the family is ill someone has to take extended leave from work or give up work all together and this puts extra strain and stress on a family already going through the most terrible time in their lives. The Geoff Bates fund will aim to help families bridge that gap and help them survive. To be able to offer this fund we need your help. We need your donations and fundraising activities.

Our funding comes from you our supporters, who hold fun fundraising events across the country. We need more of you to get involved. Without your help we couldn’t continue to do the vital work we do.

200,000 men are diagnosed a year with cancer in the UK, killing 10 men an hour.

Please help us, please get involved

Thank you

Message from the trustees

Since the formation of Balls to Cancer as a charity, a lot of time and effort has been invested in a nationwide awareness campaign to make both men and women aware of the dangers of cancer, and in particular male cancers. As with all new charities, a high level of initial financial investment has been needed to establish Balls to Cancer as a well-known charity with a high public profile and a wide base of supporters.  This has included gaining exposure for the charity through merchandise, advertising, events and the media.

The primary aim of Balls to Cancer is, always has been, and always will be to raise male cancer awareness and to support male cancer education and research.  All donations received by Balls to Cancer are applied towards this purpose.

The publicly available accounts of Balls to Cancer for its first year reflect its strategy and aims.  We are proud to say that the accounts also demonstrate how much hard work and support has gone into making Balls to Cancer the charity it is today.

The trustees of Balls to Cancer would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the charity’s supporters for their continued fundraising and hard work, without which none of our continuing work in raising cancer awareness would be possible.

The Wedding

2 1/2 years Rob Davis-Hillard was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 24, he was taken in for an operation and to this date is all clear.

On the 17th of August he got married and they had the balls to cancer pens for the men’s favours and also Rob, his best man (Giles Cobley) and ushers were wearing balls to cancer boxers and I have attached a picture of Rob and his best man in their boxers just before they got ready to go to the church. I have also attached some pictures of Rob and his lovely wife!

Congratulations to them and thank you both for supporting Balls to Cancer!

Balls to Cancer FC are our very own Sunday league team that will play in the Wolverhampton League Division 7 and play out of Darlaston Town FC’s ground.

The team has been set up and will be managed by our Official Luke Durnall and his assistant manager Richard Dockery
