Cancer Doesn’t Stop at the Hospital Door

Cancer treatment happens in hospitals. But living with cancer happens everywhere else.

It happens at home when the bills still need paying.

It happens when the shopping needs doing, the garden needs sorting, the children need school uniforms and everyone is trying to carry on as normally as possible.

For more than 15 years, Balls to Cancer has been there for people during those moments.

We support men, women and children affected by cancer, and sometimes the help somebody needs isn’t complicated.

It might be someone to talk to when they’re frightened.

It might be practical help when everyday life has become overwhelming.

It might be a chemotherapy support pack to make treatment a little more comfortable.

It might be giving a family the chance to escape hospital appointments and treatment for a few precious days in one of our holiday homes.

Sometimes it’s helping create a memory that a family will treasure forever.

Sometimes it’s simply saying:“What do you need? We’ll see what we can do.”

That’s the kind of charity we have always wanted Balls to Cancer to be.We become close to many of the people and families we support. We celebrate good news with them, worry with them through difficult days and, heartbreakingly, sometimes lose people who have become friends.

That’s why this isn’t just a job to us.It’s personal.Thousands of people have come through our doors, inboxes and phones over the years, but we never want anyone to feel like a number.

If cancer has entered your family’s life and you need some help, please contact us.

If you’re fortunate enough not to need our help today, perhaps you could help us be there for the next family that does.

Balls to Cancer relies on the generosity of people who believe families affected by cancer deserve someone in their corner.
